Refund policy
We have a 7-day return policy in line with section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), which means you have 7 calendar days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it — unused, uninstalled, undamaged, and in its original packaging, with all accessories, manuals, and warranty documentation included. You'll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
To start a return, please contact us at info@shutterdrive.co.za.
Returns will need to be sent to the following address:
Shutterdrive Unit 16, Prestige Business Park 129 Albertina Serfontein Street Manufacta, Roodepoort, 1724
Once your return request is accepted, we'll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. The customer is responsible for return shipping costs. We recommend using a tracked courier service, as Shutterdrive cannot be held responsible for goods lost or damaged in transit during return.
Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
You can always contact us for any return question at info@shutterdrive.co.za.
Mandatory Professional Installation Requirement
Rolling door motors and gate motors must be installed by a qualified, registered electrician or certified installer. Incorrect installation can cause serious injury, property damage, and electrical fire, and will void all warranties.
No refund, exchange, or warranty claim will be honoured for any product that has been installed unless the customer can provide written proof that the product was installed by a qualified professional.
Acceptable proof includes:
- A signed installation certificate or invoice from a registered electrician (with their registration number) or accredited installer
- A Certificate of Compliance (CoC) where applicable
- The installer's full contact details, company name, and qualification reference
Failure to supply this documentation will result in the claim being declined, and the product will be returned to the customer at the customer's cost.
Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. In line with section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, you have an implied warranty of quality for 6 months from the date of delivery on defective goods, subject to the professional installation requirement above.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain items cannot be returned, including:
- Products that have been installed without proof of professional installation (see above)
- Products damaged through misuse, incorrect installation, power surges, lightning, or unauthorised modification
- Products returned without original packaging, accessories, or documentation
- Custom or special-order products
- Sale items or gift cards
Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we've received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you'll be refunded via EFT to your original payment method or a nominated bank account within 30 days of cancellation, in line with section 44(2) of the ECT Act.
Please remember that it may take additional time for your bank to process and reflect the refund. If more than 30 days have passed since we've approved your return and you have not received your refund, please contact us at info@shutterdrive.co.za.
